The Authenticity Experience – Hack #7 IMPACT

Written by Stuart Haden on March 31, 2015

I firmly believe that my goal to ‘hack authenticity and open source it for all’ will have impact. People who are authentic do not rely on luck, they always have a system. In the context of these postings they have a method for hacking authenticity. Over the years they have developed a habit, discipline, worship, observance, act, practice and custom. The trick with this hack is to make it so easy that you have no excuses for not getting started

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #6: IMAGINE

Written by Stuart Haden on March 26, 2015

My stated aim is to ‘hack authenticity and open source it for all’ is in itself a question – what makes someone show up as being truly authentic? This hack is all about questions not necessarily answers. Authentic individuals are comfortable treading this line between knowing and not knowing. Indeed in a recent posting I said that ‘If you aren’t asking yourself enough questions (or the right types of questions) then you probably aren’t being authentic.’

Questions are great when you need to

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #5: IMPORTANCE

Written by Stuart Haden on March 24, 2015

‘Hacking authenticity and open sourcing it for all’ is a bold aim that I have signed up to. This next hack is influenced by Star Wars and the great coach and mentor himself – Yoda. “Do or do not, there is no try” is a well known quote, see the 25 seconds of magic here. Authentic individuals never try, instead they commit, act and the deliver. But it’s not this word that interests me, instead it’s the concept of do

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #4: INSPIRATION

Written by Stuart Haden on March 19, 2015

My stated aim is to ‘hack authenticity and open source it for all’ and in doing so I embody this hack, by combining my passions and outcomes. This hack appears simple enough, but it is designed to combat a pitfall of modern day society. Many of us think we make the connection between passions and outcomes, yet we sometimes missed the point entirely.

You need to be really precise when you map out what you are passionate about. Make sure you

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #3: INSIGHT

Written by Stuart Haden on March 17, 2015

I am never going to achieve my goal of ‘hacking authenticity and open sourcing it for all’ without taking a stand. Authentic people not only take a stand, they also know why they are doing so. The first question in this hack (what value is important to you?) Is a fairly straightforward starting point. Simply choose one value this is important to you right now. Maybe you are working on something at the moment, or about to embark on something

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #2: INNER

Written by Stuart Haden on March 12, 2015

My intention is to ‘hack authenticity and open source it for all’, thus a focus on who you are is vital. The first part to this hack involves analysing your INTERNAL identity. This activity needs to be reflective and introspective, it’s a work in – not a work out. Once you have recognised your values and direction you now need to acquire and apply SKILLS. This involves working on your personal development, in a precise way because you have located your

The Authenticity Experience – Hack #1: IDENTITY

Written by Stuart Haden on March 10, 2015

My stated aim is to ‘hack authenticity and open source it for all’. The root of authenticity is our identity – our very being, and DNA if you will. Recent research (http://www.oxfordanalytics.org) suggests that all great leaders have one thing in common – the ability to access and tell their personal story. If you apply this hack to your work and life you will achieve greater impact and alignment, as well as avoiding the pitfalls of modern day society.

Make sure

Being authentic = combining passion & outcomes

Written by Stuart Haden on March 5, 2015

This is a simple yet powerful formula – if you combine your passions with your outcomes then this can lead to a more authentic way of being. Of course there is the obvious trap – you might end up turning your hobby into your day job. In order to avoid this (if you need to) make sure you are really clear on your passions in the first place. If you love (passion) walking your dog, this might not translate into

Running and the art of coachability

Written by Stuart Haden on March 3, 2015

Since I published my book in Nov 2013 I have been busy testing out the applications of coachability in different contexts. I was recently interviewed by George Anderson who is an inspirational running coach. Between us we recognised that if you want to improve your running, lose weight or achieve high performance etc then the chances are you will need to be coached along the way. Obviously this could take the form of one to one coaching, as well as supplemented
